Awesome Book with a Great Set of Detail
I picked this book up for a photography project I was working on for school. I originally thought I would only need a few sections of content from it, but after getting started with the read, it turned out to be way better than I expected. The format and layout of the chapters is perfect for anyone looking to get into photographic storytelling and the example imagery throughout is absolutely stunning.

A recipe for storytelling
Storytelling is often used (and misused!) especially now, in the days of social media. You will find the term utilized to "elevate" just a regular photo, as if it had a mysterious aura. But what storytelling really is in photography? The book tries, and accomplishes, in my mind, answering this very demanding question. The message is surprisingly simple: location, character, and event. Oh, and don't say too much! I guess many of us are guilty of that, trying to over explain, not being confident enough in the stories we tell. The chapter on the importance of shop type (establishing shots, transition shots etc) was an eye opener. I have already started looking at my narratives this way. Combined with very specific examples how to incorporate this technique into Lightroom workflow, creates a very powerful tool that builds craft confidence. But the book goes beyond that, and it does brilliant work mapping out "storytelling" from an idea to a delivery to the client (even if the client is just you, and your personal project!). There are exercises along the way too, with my personal favorite project called "Everyday Cinematic". You just have to get the book to find out what that is! Finally, it is worth mentioning, that with its matte paper and expertly arranged photography, the book is always a joy to pick up for a brief moment or a spell of deep work.Dorota Dudek-Thien

Get ready to go up a level with your photography
I often peruse books on photography and get lost in the technical jargon and put the book down. I came across this book and instantly connected with it. In fact, I read it cover to cover and went back and enjoyed the suggestions during a second reading. The examples are practical and anyone can follow along. The imagery is beautiful and a book that I will refer back to many times. I love it when I can apply something from a teacher and immediately see the benefits. This book will do that for you. Every image should tell a story and this will help you put the finishing touches on those stories. Get this book for yourself and order copies to give to your photog buddies for Christmas.

Good Read and Informative
It is an excellent book for photographers who have some photography experience and who are looking to take their photography to the next level. The images are great to look at and Finn provides very good examples and exercises to help you become a better visual storyteller. If you are a beginner and looking for more detail instructions, I would still recommend this book, but as a supplement to any how to/beginner photography books out there. As you get better, you would want to have this book handy :)

Exactly what I was looking for
This took a long time to get to us, but it was well worth the wait. It was like every part of it was exactly what I was looking for. I loved the colors, the photos, the explanations and advice. It is not a "how to do photography" book but a "how to tell a story with your photos" book. Highly recommended if that's what you're looking for.

Practical and Well Structured
Amazing insight into the process beginning with the ideas/prepping/inspiration to shooting to delivering. This book truly captures Finn's brilliant approach and is layed out with practical examples/visuals, which is SUPER helpful to be able to refer back to. He covers it all in this 150+ pages and gives it to you straight.Unlike any online workshop, the book is something compact/tangible that you can bring with you wherever you are. Lots of little nuggets packed in..would recommend 10/10 to any inspiring photographers, especially those who are looking to grow their passion into a career.

A Must-Have for Photographers!
I've taken a handful of courses over the years from different photographers, both in-person and online. This book is not only beautifully laid out, but it is filled with educational content for a fraction of the cost of what most photographers seem to be offering these days! To be able to have a physical resource on hand at all times is truly invaluable. I'm looking forward to leveraging all the information and material Finn has poured into this book.

Interesting and easy to read
The book is interesting and easy to read. I like the design of it. Some of the tips that author shares with reader really workable and generally Finn summaries everything in very understandable way for beginners. Despite of the fact the some information isn't new it still not boring to go through it.
