So much information! So many wonderful pictures! For the photographer, the historian, and the just plain curious! Top notch!

Excellent book for my history of documentary photography college course.

While many books write about documentary, they leave out scores of different viewpoints - but not this book. The author has looked at the genre, and the challenges of nailing down this genre, in a clear and conversational way with lots of examples of work that resonates. I enjoyed reading it tremendously!

Cogent and coherent. Invaluable in any serious research on this topic.
