Awesome sound
JBL is my go to for speakers. Always great quality and sound. Speaker is waterproof. I’m willing to spend a little more for a quality product. Great bass. Not too small and not too big. Comes with a strap for easy carrying. Battery holds a charge for 24 hours.

Just get it, perfect size for me, future proof with the battery
Best purchase last year. I like my music loud wherever I am, at the farm or at work, portable enough to not be a nuisance (just saying boombox) but bigger than my flip 6, plus you can replace the battery, I haven't yet, it still lasts 2 days of work and a lil outside at home. Not fragile- I fell on it(icy floor) she's good. Strap and weight is honestly it's portability selling point

I really like the JBL portable speakers
UPDATE: Just got back from a five night camping trip and took the Extreme 4 because I knew the campground would be pretty empty immediately after Labor Day and sometimes You've just got to blast 90s Gangsta Rap in the wilderness...And it was glorious. It was also glorious with 1920s New Orleans Jazz, Hank Williams, Sr, The Clash, Mozart — whatever I threw at the Extreme 4, it handled beautifully with full, rich sound, well balanced and powerful. Here's the kicker, we probably used the speaker for five or six hours a night and we never even got close to needing the fully charged extra battery I brought along. Before the trip I purchased a rather nice hard case for the speaker that I could also have the extra battery and charging cables, etc as needed. The Extreme 4 is nothing short of amazing.Original ReviewI already owned a JBL Charge 4 speaker and it's great but I wanted something more powerful, with richer sound and better battery life — and boy did I get that with the Extreme 4!It's still a a manageable size for portability (it even has ca nice carry strap with a bottle opener built in). The sound is, in a word, fantastic. Big, booming bass when it's needed, but well balanced mids and high end, too. There's even a five point EQ available for the Extreme in the JBL app. Oh, did I mention the 24 hour battery life? It gets better, the battery is removable and you can purchase a second (or 10th if that's your thing) that is user swappable while still maintaining the water and dust proof qualities of the speaker. Can't wait to use this camping in a couple of weeks!

Upgrade
I've only had this 3 days, and what impressed me most was the clarity and it's ability to maintain that as volume increases without distortion. I have a flip 5 and was looking for something with a little more kick and presence, this unit covers both well. In addition I ordered a carrying sleeve which fits nicely and has a small short handle as opposed to the shoulder strap I personally didn't care for as much. Yah, it's going look and sound good in the yard while I tend the fires around the BBQ's and entertain folks at the fire pit too. It's not how loud it can play so much, it's the quality of sound and I'm happy with that. That's it, except for the removable battery addition, a definite plus over a secured one you can't get your hands on.

Crystal Clear Sound with Seamless Setup
Excellent audio quality... Be sure to download the JBL Portable app to sync the speaker and update the firmware before your first use.I highly recommend this model to anyone who values clear, high-quality sound. It performs exceptionally well for both indoor and outdoor settings.

JBL Extreme 4
I think the Extreme 4 shows us the challenges of making a portable, waterproof speaker sound great. It must be very hard to pull off.I bought the E4 to upgrade from my old JBL flip 5, which still works fine. The sound quality from the E4 is better than the Flip 5, but not by much. Certainly not 4x better, based on price. But the E4 is cool looking, and has nice bass sound. It’s the high notes that get muffled. The equalizer in the JBL app is a nice feature, and is the saving grace here.Nice speaker considering the size, durability and battery life. If you’re expecting high fidelity, prepare to be disappointed.

Awesome.
Awesome. Loud. JBL is know for great speakers. This fourth version comes with an app to change sound profiles. The battery is now removable. It still has a bottle opener on the strap.
