HENCKELS Razor-Sharp Steak Knife Set of 8, German Engineered Informed by 100+ Years of Mastery,Black

These are, by far, the BEST steak knives we've ever owned! I had 4 of them for years and somewhere along the way 2 went missing. So I had to use other ones when we had company and they would tear the meat vs cutting it, they were awful. I received an Amazon gift card from a friend and knew exactly what I wanted and purchased a new set of 8! Now I have plenty for company and don't have to hand wash the 2 I had left so we always had the "good" knives ready for use. You will not be disappointed, these are fantastic knives, always sharp and never get dull. I highly recommend them!

I purchased this knife set (J.A. Henckels International Eversharp 8-Piece Steak Knife Set) August of 2011, received it quickly and in perfect NEW condition. At least one knife from the set has been used daily since receiving it. The edges are SHARP, its dangerous as are all serrated knives and this could and would give a nasty and painful slash you would be sorry to get if not paying attention when washing them. I do hand wash and dry these knives, treating them with respect. They have remained new looking and they do by the way have the FULL LENGHT TANG WITH 3 RIVETS ALONG THE HANDLE. I think they were a great buy, the blade always looking shiny at the table. I've found nothing in the way of food that they will not cut nicely into small dainty pieces or too large for a mouth too take in size chunks. They can be used for raw meats also if necessary. NOW, IF YOU WANT the giant size, manly, wood handled knives that need to be sharpened, like those in a steak house, these are not for you. Or if you are an individual who must have the very best there are more expensive, wonderful knives right here on Amazon. One other thought, I never, ever give knives as gifts. I've always felt it would be a terrible cause for guilt if I would give a knife set as a gift and whomever I gave them to decided to do something terrible with the knife I gave as a gift. These knives have the capability of doing the worst and any steak you have designs on will be in the worst of trouble.My final thoughts, if you want a good steak knife for a very inexpensive price (I paid 29.95 here at Amazon and they are less, $25.29 at this writing) I don't feel you will go wrong with these. I give them full marks for quality, looks, and their ability to do their job effectively and for the price of (at this time of my writing) $3.16 apiece. Excellent knives. Very sharp, great looking, and comfortable in the hand.

I got these during Prime Day sale. Knives are made in China. That said, they seem to be well made and VERY sharp for serrated blades. Price was right for knives that won’t be used that much. HENCKELS makes some nice knives at a good value. Durability is my only concern. Serrated knives are difficult to sharpen so hoping these keep their edge for a long time.

For the price, these are really good. They get an A rating from me as a daily standard steak knife. They are a little light but that isn't a flaw to me, The edge is wicked sharp and serrated for cutting meat with. They have a one-piece tang so they are much less likely to break in the midst of cutting something. Knives with a one-piece plastic handle usually have the tang halfway into the plastic handle and those will break unexpectedly; I've had that unpleasant experience. For a set of eight good knives, this is a top-shelf purchase.

Better than originals that came with set!

I bought these knives for the first time 8 years ago as a single woman. Since then I've gotten married and had kids, and realized one day that we were sometimes running out of knives when they'd all end up in the dishwasher at the same time and perhaps I should remedy that by buying more knives. I was delighted to see that the exact same knives are still being sold because the ones I had were still doing great after 8 years of daily use (including always being put in the dishwasher and my husband's grating habit of roughly cutting through food so hard he VERY loudly scrapes the plates). Unless you compare them very closely or notice that the logo has changed slightly you wouldn't be able to tell the difference between the new ones and old ones. I think these are a fabulous set of knives for a great price.

Initially found them to be excellent for cutting steaks and other foods. However when used to cut more tender cuts of meat the small teeth get clogged with the meat fibers. Chose these micro serrations as I felt that they would stay sharper longer. Especially noticeable when cutting with the grain of the meat. If this is cleaned off the knife will cut properly for a few passes and then get clogged again. Purchased some other knives with the more or less standard serrations and they do not exhibit this issue. All in all a decent knife but if cutting prime rib or other very tender cuts of protein these may not be for you. Had similar issues when cutting roasted chicken with the grain of the meat.
