It works exactly as described - my vehicle has different angled latch areas in the front vs back doors, and the design allows it to be level on both with the adjustable mode. I use it mainly to get kayaks on and off of the roof rack on my Subaru Crosstrek, and for that purpose it works very well.Solid metal, feels solid.It does mount fairly high, so you will probably need to step up onto the door frame or running boards if you have them first. Especially on the rear door. It is a bit wobbly once you're up on it, so be careful.

Booo. shipped fast..but I didn''t take into account how high my rear door latch is. it makes it totally impossible for me to use the step. it goes on great..seems sturdy..but, if i could get up that high, i wouldn't need the little steppy thing.

Worked great, nice and sturdy. It allowed me to pack my rooftop carrier in a way that I could properly balance my load. This was super important as I had 19 road hours to my destination.
