Simple
Oh so simple. Keep it simple. No issues with mounting a 55" Samsung. Don't get an automatic turning mount. Get up off the couch so much cheaper.

Works Great
This unit made it easy to switch from landscape to portrait view. Great for watching videos and movies in portrait view.

Excellent rotating TV mount
I use this TV mount for a small space between a cabinet and a door where I wanted to mount a TV that I could use as a both a regular screen and a test bed for digital signage (hence the rotation flexibility). It works well, though I'm going to have to make a few mods to the size (the mounting brackets stick up over the top and bottom of my screen (42"), and some cable management is needed on the rear. The rotating mechanism gives a nice 'click' when it's unlatched and makes a noise when it locks into a new position after rotating, but it's not always straight even though it's latched into place. Sometimes you have to wiggle it a little to straighten it out. It really needs some better cable management on the rear as well as the pull string to unlatch it can easily get caught in the mount when it rotates, making it very difficult to unlatch it again and rotate it back. Otherwise, the rotation is smooth and secure, and it mounts to just one stud if needed. This worked out really well in my case as the space I had available didn't have the right stud placement in the walls, and finding two that a regular horizontal mount could utilize would have been problematic. Overall, I like this mount and would definitely buy another the use-case came up again, though cable management is an issue and the fact that it can rotate in a full 360 without a stopping point means that wires can get pulled or stretched if you aren't paying attention to what direction it was rotated from originally.

Slanted Portrait
This mount is easy to install, and does exactly what it says as far as movement goes. However it does not have a tight lock at each 90 degree point. There is a little bit of play in it. If the mounting on the back of your TV is dead center, it will probably work quite well. On my TV, the VESA mounting is about 6 inches below center (when the TV is at it's usual angle). You can see that the extra weight on the top ( right side in the pictures) pulls the TV askew when in portrait mode. Ill have to find some way to brace it or hold it at the correct angle.

excellent heavy duty "landscape-to-portrait" mount
The media could not be loaded. We used this mount to turn a 55" TV 90 degrees (landscape mode to portrait mode) so we can store it when not viewing in a circa-2000 alcove that had originally been built for a big tube TV. Works great - smooth, secure, easy-to-use. Very satisfied. It was the solution to a problem we've been trying to resolve for many years.NOTE: This mount by itself does not extend or tilt - it merely rotates the TV. We built a movable panel on full-extension hardware to slide in and out of the alcove.

Monoprice brand is identical
Perfect for mounting my 65" LG in a 4' space between windows. I can store it in portrait when not in use with no exposed cables. Takes a bit of trial and error to balance it on the mounting bracket so it doesn't flop out of level whenever it's stored as there is a bit of play in the lock. I compared side by side (in hand) with the Monoprice and they're identical. I took this off the wall and installed the Monoprice. They function exactly the same so this one went back.

It kinda worked
It kinda worked but needed a modification. The length of the back metal pieces extended to far that it obstructed the power and hdmi plugs. The solution use a dremeal to cut the metal to correct length. It was pretty easy just be sure to wear protected glasses and gloves and long sleeve shirt due to sparks. It would have been easier if they had included different length attachments.
