Fantastic Air Purifier

Have the non-wifi model. Got it in October 2019 and it still works perfectly. We have 3 indoor pets, and what I think is an above average amount of household dust. I mostly blame the two cat litter boxes - despite using supposedly 99% dust-free litter.Anyway, we run it on the Low speed 24/7 in the master bedroom (approx 200 sq ft). It definitely helps with my allergies, especially when I'm sleeping. (we also have a larger Levoit in the main living area)I love the "change filter" indicator. The filters have consistently lasted 3.5 to 4 months, and the amount of brownish-gray dust that coats the filter by the time the indicator light comes on is mind-blowing! Looks exactly like the photos of dirty filters others have posted. And whenever either of us happens to have a cold or flu we run it on Medium while sleeping, and High (too noisy for us to sleep) during the day since it can also supposedly filter out viruses. (a bit skeptical of that claim, but figure it can't hurt)FILTERS: I recently read you can vacuum the outside of the filter to remove that layer of dust/dirt to help extend the life of the filter. I did that for the first time a few days ago with my handheld vac, so we'll see how it goes. I'm down for any hacks to cut expenses, even in small ways.As for replacements, for the first couple of years I used genuine Levoit filters. Then I switched to an off-brand, "Flintar". I get them here on Amazon. They're all I use now. They come in a 2-pack and the price is a great deal compared to one Levoit filter. I can't tell any difference in quality or performance.Last thing - when I replace the filter I write the date on a little sticky note and stick it on the plastic bottom of the new filter. Even though I wait for the change filter light to come on, for my own curiosity I like to see exactly how long it's been since the last filter change.

Good quality purifier at an affordable price

When I began looking for an air purifier I was overwhelmed by the number of choices. After much research I decided on a Levoit 300 because it got a lot of good reviews from customers as well as sites that did comparison analysis of multiple purifiers. Additionally the price was reasonable. It is located in our bedroom. I keep it running on the low setting 24 hrs a day. I have cleaned it once after 1 month of operation and after just a month there was stuff to clean off the filter. I gently vacuumed it. I wanted to control the dust in the air, as well as cat hair, and it did an admirable job. On the low setting we don’t even notice it at night and have not even used sleep mode setting. It is sturdy, not visually obtrusive and simple to set up. I hope it has decent longevity because it is doing a wonderful job. We live in the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles and the air here is always dusty and dirty. This Levoit has made a difference. I am so pleased that I am considering buying another one.

Great air purifier!!

I love this air purifier , I bought one about 4 years ago and still have it today and it still works perfect! The filter lasts a long time . So you don’t need to switch it very often you can vacuum some of the dust off every now and then and it’s makes Big difference . I keep it on all day and I hardly notice it , very quiet and sleep all night with it . I makes the room feel fresh as you know the air is constantly moving and you can just breathe much better . I just bought one for my mom , I know she is going to love it !

Cost effective for small spaces/limited use

An air purifier is not a complicated device. It is a fan, and an air filter. The fan pulls air through the air filter, and catches various particles and impurities in the air. As long as you have a decent HEPA filter, and a fan that has enough velocity to circulate the room air through the filter effectively, it will work to clean the air. You can build one yourself with a box fan and some high quality furnace filters and duct tape if you have to.So what distinguishes this one from the hundreds of others out there, why is it so popular?(1) Low up front costs - this has enough power to handle a small room effectively and a true HEPA filter at a pretty low initial cost.(2) Easy to live with - the fan is very quiet except on high, and even on high it isn't obnoxiously loud. Changing the filter takes about 10 seconds and is easy to do. There is a pre-filter to catch large dust/animal hair and the like which you can vacuum to extend the life of the HEPA filter for small particles. The unit itself is not huge or ugly, so it can sit in the corner of most rooms without being objectionable.(3) Available filters - this unit's extreme popularity means that there will likely be filters available for many years.(4) It does work - I bought an air quality meter after the recent wildfire smoke episode, and it shows me that this thing does a pretty good job in small rooms. In bigger rooms it will still provide some benefit, but it is really not able to move enough air quickly enough to clean a large room.Downsides:The filters are relatively small, so they will have to be changed fairly frequently if you run the unit constantly. How frequently? I don't know, your mileage will vary depending on how many pets you have, how much wildfire smoke is in your area, etc. But I would expect to buy at least two a year if comparing this to other units that may have larger filters you need to change less often. So think about the total running costs and not just the up front cost when comparison shopping here. If you are thinking about saving money by trying to run this in a bigger room than it is designed for, don't go down that road. You do need to size your unit to the area you are trying to keep clean. A large room needs a larger unit with a bigger fan and a bigger filter. Also, all of these things are quieter if not running on high. So it is better to get a bigger unit even one that handles more than you are asking it to, and then run it slower and change the filters less often versus trying to save money up front and then driving the thing as hard as it will go to barely get any benefit.
