Repairs around home, hobbies. The size and price doesn't give justice to the versatile usage that you can extract from this vital tool. Heavy enough to perform many tasks even without fast it to anything, therefore you can move it near where your problem is if you place it flat and safe as an extra wrench, vice, hang, etc. Additionally has the advantage that you can rotate it if you're need to any horizontal angle, and/ or you can make more heavier and stable, but still portatil fix it to a wooden base or metal one, or combo by bolts attached to the prefabricated perforated base. It saves you time, money, pain, and accidents; even though it's small. I was planning to get a bigger one later, but not necessary at all. This one is my work mule from my toolbox, works nicely, but definitely I will get a smaller stead in addition to this one for holding delicate stuff like beads, since this one is to big but also can be used for that with the precaution of covering the jaws of the vice with clothes or another similar stuff or buy the accessories for that purpose.

Update 2024: It's been over 6 years. This has taken a beating. I just cleaned it up with a wire brush and degreaser as it was dirty, greasy, and had some surface rust. It held up well after several years of homeowner use. Still going on strong.Update 2020: It's been 2 years and I have used this vise much more and it's held up to a good beating when I was trying to remove a seized gear of a lawnmower transmission.Update: 2019 It's been 1 year and I have gotten a lot of use out of this. I've sharpened several blades using this vise and it works fine.I needed a vise for light use on my work bench. I didn't want to spend much money and found this. It works great and had not given me any issues.

Hard to beet the price for this. It may not be the greatest quality, but it works for me. Holding small items, wood working, filing small objects, etc, and it has a nice hard surface for pounding on if needed. I took it completely apart and greased it but it did have some grease already. The metal the main screw goes though inside looks to just be a casting so it won't take cranking down on it too much before snapping off. There bolt holding it on but I still don't think it will take much force. A vice should take everything you can give it, but this one probably won't. Regardless of that, I still was able to crank it down enough to hold the parts I needed to hold. Again for the price this is a good buy..just use care and don't crank on it too much, and maybe grease it all up inside too.

Purchased because of value and the fact it is a 5 in. vise. It is not a heavy vise so will not old up to real heavy jobs but my last vise/anvil combo was too heavy for most jobs so I downsized this time and the cost was much lower. Fast shipping with this seller.

I was extremely skeptical about a 5" vice for $40 shipped as you would imagine. After all a comparable vice at local stores were $80+ and this had to be shipped. When I opened the box I was pleasantly surprised, it seemed to be a proper vice! I have been using it for a few months now for various projects and couldn't be happier. The jaws close smoothly and clamp hard and they are easy to replace with smooth or other surfaced jaws. The swivel base is awesome, I've never had that on my old vices, it is so helpful especially once mounted to a bench/table. At this price point, you cannot beat it.

The overall feel and quality of this vice is great the build quality has a few issues some rust on the main bolt and the jaws have a little tolerance alignment issue but still very manageable for the price you pay my local HF vice is about twice as expensive than this one and comparing them their the same overall, would buy this again or the next version up contacted their technical support and received fast response with emails very great company and concerned about their customers.

It's is a good vise, I just needed it to be bigger

For the price, this item seems worth it if you are willing to do some much needed maintenance to it before you mount it and start to use it. Once the maintenance is done, this is a nice product. First thing i noticed was how turning the vice handle made the spring inside made a weird binding noise. This is due to lack of lubrication and a gritty substance all over the inside of the item. It was also hard to open up because of fighting the friction. I tore the vice apart, including taking the cotter pin out that holds the spring in place on the crank handle. Wiped everything down to get rid of that grit that would destroy the vice if I didn’t. Then i took my wire wheel to the surfaces that rub together when operating the vice to clean off over sprayed paint. Then i noticed some edges weren’t milled nicely, so i filed them flat or rounded sharp edges. Then i lubricated applicable surfaces with copper based anti-seize. Getting the cotter pin back in place was a serious pain, good luck getting yours back in. I used a needle nose and a giant channel locks to compress the spring. Once the vice was back together, it operated in a nice fashion. Moves easily and no more binding spring.
