With the piHPSDR software, the Split function allows you to select VFO-A for Receive and VFO-B for Transmit. This is a common practice when working Contests, DX, or Crossband. So yes, it does support full duplex as long as VFO-A and VFO-B are not on the same frequency.

Q: Will this function well with a pi 3b?

It can not with a pi 3b. Redioberry SDR TRX for Raspberry pi 4b.
