I'm sure there are plenty of other uses - but this think SHINES for holiday displaysNo more tromping out in underwear and sorels! Getting people the wrong product is wasteful, irresponsible and a hassle for everyone.Not everything I review gets high marks -- BTW, I live in a high sales tax state, review items aren't exactly at-no-cost for me]

LOVE THIS! I have a pergola with lights wrapped around it, and it was getting annoying to constantly go out to plug it in or unplug it. This timer is on a heavy duty stake, so it slid into the ground easily and stayed put. It has several outlets which means I can use it for multiple sets of lights or just keep it on and use it for my electric grill. It has multiple time settings. Right now I'm using dusk to dawn (so sensitive it turns off if my porch light is on!), but if I find that I'm using too much electricity, I might switch to just a few hours. Luckily, it's not dark early, so we can actually enjoy seeing it for those hours! I also like the sturdy covers over the outlets, so you know the unused ones will be safe when it rains or snows.

I got this to use with a light strand in my back patio. We like to turn on the light each night to make the atmosphere more festive which means going into the dark, physically plugging in, and then doing the same to turn it off. Not a huge deal but now I point the remote to the back from my living room and light. I was expecting to only use the timer, which is the main reason I got it, but the remote is a big bonus. The timer works fine and the build quality seems very high. Strongly recommend

It's the time of year that Christmas lights and decorations go up, so picked up this power strip to automate the power. It is well designed, but I would have liked an outlet or two with always-on feature (for daytime inflatable decorations, etc.). I also think the covers that close over the outlets should have been designed to protect plugs when in use. There's always a concern if there would be a heavy rain, but it does have circuit protection you can reset if tripped. I also worry that the plastic spike for sticking into the ground might snap if ground is frozen, I think it shoudl have been a metal spike. It is a pretty good option for outdoor lighting, that could be improved with a few minor changes.

I am going to use this for my holiday decorations this year. One thing I really like about it is the dusk-dawn sensor. So it powers on when it is dark, cuts the power when it is daylight. This stops you from needing to buy a timer or remember to plug and unplug the decorations. I also like the fact that it stands up on a stake. That prevents in a plugs from sitting in a puddle of water if it rains. Good design, but that light sensor makes it a great buy.

I was excited when I ordered this because it sounded like the device I needed. The Amazon page claimed it to be waterproof. The only way this is waterproof is if NOTHING is plugged into it.The covers on the thing won't close over the plugs to protect them from rain. Any and all moisture will get to the prongs on the plug, risking a short.The manufacturer needs to look into what makes an outdoor plug "waterproof." I'd give this 0 stars if I could.

I’m probably being too harsh in giving this item just 3 stars, especially because I really, really like it. I’m currently using it for my holiday inflatables, and it’s perfect for that. There are plenty of outlets for the inflatables, and while I like having the dawn/dusk feature, I would much prefer to simply use the remote to turn it on and off. That’s the problem, though. The remote doesn’t work, so I can’t use it. I guess I can give it the benefit of the doubt and simply say that it was sent with a bad battery, and that wouldn’t be strange since the battery did seem slightly used when I got it (as if it was a returned item). It’s hard to test the battery, though, since it’s not a common size (23A). If the remote didn’t work at all, I’d give this two stars since that was a primary reason for getting this. If the remote will work with a new battery, I’d give it 4 stars, but only if I think to come back and change the review if I actually purchase this odd battery. Had it come with a working remote, 5 stars. So take from that what you will.

It's that time of year to plug in way too many lights into the trees and instead of running all sort of extension cords this can now be the answer. One cord out to the trees and into this and 4 or 5 light strings out of it. I love the way it comes with two stakes, one right into the ground all the way and the second one for height. The doors open and close very solidly and the spacing and pattern works well. Plugging in a few test lights, the outlets felt well built and secure. The top has the controls and they are very easy and clear to understand. While I won't be using the remote, I can see it being handy for some folks. For about $17 this is overbuilt, easy to use and will solve a great holiday issue.
