Q: Are these battery powered?

The description in add is incorrect it mentions battery-powered. No batteries are needed. This is a maintenance-free thermometer. Nothing to replace ever.

Q: These seem to be a few degrees cooler than all my digital thermometers. Is there a certain way to use them? Does the cold metal make them inaccurate?

After extensive testing in my refrigerator, my 2 thermometers differ by 4 degrees. The cooler one closely matches another thermometer I have so I guess I will just trash the higher one.

Q: What does "ok" freeze mean?

Instead of "O.K. Freeze" which is confusing, some dial thermometer makers just label it as "Freeze", for example, see Taylor Precision Products 5924,3-inch Dial Kitchen Refrigerator and Freezer Kitchen Thermometer.
