Q: does it use a standard 13 gallon bag

Yes. It is actually a 12 gallon container but you will find that a 13 gallon bag fits perfectly and allows bags not to overfill. Especially good for lower priced trash bags without the price of having to use drawstring bags.

Q: Is there a option to use a plug instead of batteries? How long is the warranty, 5 years? My 9 star broke in less then 2 years

yes they sell a power supply as well. warranty is 5 years

It is absolutely not cat proof. One of my cats learned how to reach up and touch the sensor to open it within a week. Once it’s opening she stands up and covers the sensor with her body as she looks inside and pulls stuff out. I ended up having to build a stand for it so that her paw can’t go over the rim anymore. She is an average size cat so it really just depends on how determined your cat is. We still love the trash can though and would still buy it again.

When the lid is open it is 36 inches tall.
