Love this author.
From the first page to the last page Francine Rivers holds your attention in the history of her books and the lives involved in the story. She shares biblical truth in all her writings.

Mother loves this book!
I bought this book for my 90 year old mother. She is absolutely loving it and can't wait to read it every day. There is nothing offensive in the book, and it's got a very rich story that is a real page turner.

Very good
This is the second time I have read this book and loved it just as much this second time around. I recommend this book to everyone and have bought it as gifts and have loaned out my hard copy. In my opinion, you can't go wrong in choosing this book

a daughter/mother challenge
As usual, Francine Rivers pulls the reader right into her story and early 1900’s family life. The characters become friends, and enemies. Life before WWI is a challenge and family life’s are often forfeited. Then came WWII, and lives were shattered and rebuilt. Through it all, there was conflict between a mother and a daughter, sometimes resulting in sorrow and tragedy. Determined to not have it happen again, Marta struggles with her own daughter, desperate to not lose her. But will it drive them further apart, or bring them closer together?

Frustrating; Not Francine's Best
(Sort-of spoilers ahead)Unlike Francine's other books, I found myself very frustrated and actually discouraged. The Mark of the Lion series had redemptive moments throughout, even in the midst of sadness and anger, and there was more of a happy ending that was really heart-warming.The relationship issues in Marta's Legacy never come full circle, though there is a hint of it on the very last page. Because the majority of the book was about struggles of ALL kinds in life (cancer, hunger, abuse, war, discrimination, broken relationships), I was expecting a big payout at the end (the aforementioned happy ending). However, I thought the ending was weak and unsatisfying. Marta has a small reckoning at the very end of the book in which she reflects on how she may have treated Hildie too harshly, but then it just cuts off. The juxtaposition of Marta's letters to her friend Rosie in between Hildie's account of her mother didn't do much to soften how I felt about Marta mistreating Hildie. And yet, in some ways, this book is a very accurate portrayal of how unspoken words can make relationships fragile; of how family relationships, in particular, can strain with the weight of past generations' brokenness. Maybe that is why I didn't like it - it holds up a mirror to our lives without offering a full picture of what redemption might look like.As a side note, I have read several other of Francine Rivers' books: the Mark of the Lion series, Redeeming Love, The Masterpiece, A Bridge to Haven, and A Lineage of Grace. I really think these books do a much better job of bringing you through the tragedies of life while maintaining hope and offering you a glimpse of a better life in Christ.

Wonderful story
Fantastic! I have been reading Francine Rivers for a couple months. I started with the Lion trilogy, and the way she tells the story captivated me. I just finished this book 1 series, and I am already starting book 2!

Son's of Fathers and Mothers
A hard read of broken and wound souls striving to survive. Often made harder by lack of understanding. LookI can hardly wait to read book 2.

Worth reading
Four generations, the life of 4 women, told in two books. You will feel deeply with each of them, and identify with the one you will like most, as I did. But I won't tell which one. People are different, and so are these 4 women. To know the whole story, You will have to read both books, and You will read them with pleasure, I assure You. Rivers books surely are not just light entertainment, they show real existing, hard problems, that may be shocking for some people. Please don't read it, if You just seek light entertainment. But read it, if You are interested to be a friend to people, who suffer from hardship in their life. You will understand them better, you will understand yourself better und hopefully, you will understand Gods Grace better.

Wonderful book
Her Mothers Hope is a story of one families life with all its difficulties and achievements. It all centers around the characters living their life out in faith or sometimes in pride, and the ensueing results. A good read.
