Q: If you bought this cam instead of the Nest, are you happy w it? I plan to use at home to see what my kids / nanny are up to (nanny knows about cam).

I had same question. I own 2 drop cams I bought these and guess what I dropped the drop cam. They work great here are the pros to why this is better. Much easier to set up no computer use the app SD card no need to pay for cloud service. If you wanted cloud recording you can put 5 cams on 1 account (dropcam 1 per $99 fee) crap Not only does the ad card provide about a week of review you can manually record footage right to your phone. You can share a cam. My wife has one in her office and shared it with me so I can see her cam on my account along with my shop cams. Bottom line they did exactly what I would have hoped dropcam should've done. Last $100 cheaper per cam. So far I love them.

Q: Is there a continuous recording option or is it only motion activated? How much video can be recorded on a 32GB card? Does it have nightvision?

As of current app/firmware update you do get continuous recording to SD card BUT you cannot view it without the subscription. Without a subscription the only video you can view from the cameras is the live feed or the 6 second clip triggered by motion. If you disable motion recording it records 24/7 but you are unable to view this video within the app.

Q: What's the difference between Yi and Kami cameras?

They basically changed their name from YI to Kami and screwed all their old customers, prior to the sept update in 2021 you used to be able to see 30 days in your SIM card and now only 2 hours to get you to pay for a cloud service. Go read all the YI recent reviews, this way all the upset customers only give a review to their other product and not this one, this is an integrity issue and taking advantage of your customers.

Q: Does this work with alexa to view camera on Alexa screen?

not sure but I think I remember seeing it does. Their website would most likely say.
