Q: Can they be used as snow covers in the winter ?

Yes they can, and i believe they can be used in all kinds of weather conditions. I was going to em in summer, and winter.

Q: Is there anything to keep these from "riding" up your leg when walking? Seems not.

I don’t seem to have issues with them riding up. You can strap them real tight, but they tend to get loose anyways. Velcro straps would probably work better. My problem is having to rotate them straight often after they get Loose. You can bend them in an arc, like a baseball cap, wider at the calf, and narrower at the ankles to get a better fit. They do their jobs ok, but hot as heck. For the price, you can hardly complain.

Q: Have these been tested with actual snakes to see if they can be punctured by a snake bite?

Luckily, I haven't had a snake strike so I can't answer the question. But the material is quite hard.
