We actually bought these for a trip where the pickpockets are legendary (Barcelona). They aren't high security or anything, but they do require physical manipulation to open, and in that way act as a deterrent. I ended up buying more because I have a backpack that would open on its own just from carrying it around, and these solved that problem too.

I like these small double carabiners. I attached one to the zipper pulls on my large backpack to connect the zippers. It does not lock the pack but it makes it more complicated to unzip and thus it deflects theft and hopefully keeps the compartments from unzipping as well.

I spotted these on a travel site I follow and knew they'd come in handy—and yep, they're going to be super useful! Just a heads-up: they’re definitely on the petite side, so if tiny things give you trouble, these might not be your perfect match. But for me, small but mighty works just fine!

I underestimated how many of these I would use. I used them on my checked luggage, as well as purse zippers, and backpack for peace of mind in touristy areas with known pick pockets.

Work very well for travel in notorious pickpocket areas. Clip your purse zipper to the strap & deter thieves. Also great for clipping your checked-bag zips together so they don’t open in transit. And they look nicer than others, like they’re meant to be part of the bag.
