Exactly what I was looking for
I've used it once while hiking in the mountain, but it feels like solid construction. The metal feels like quality metal. I like how adjustable it is to fit different sizes of backpack straps. It's very easily installed and very easy to take on and off a camera. I used a video camera with a Rode mic attached to the hot shoe. The camera sits in the slot so that you have to lift it up to get it out. So if you don't lock the clip, then it won't fall out if you accidentally hit the release button. I do like that you can actually lock the release button as well, so that you don't accidentally push the release button, possibly releasing the camera and causing it to fall off. I was able to attach and release the camera quickly with no issues at all. The plate that comes with the clip even works for the tripod I was hoping it would. Overall, I would recommend this product. Hopefully it continues to function properly as I continue to use it.

Tough and steady!
Very stable! Holds camera steady with no issues. The clip goes on secure and stays no slipping seems to be made of good quality material.

No reason not to get it
It’s exactly as described. It fits even my wide canon straps and hold snug. Definitely recommend.

So far so good!
This thing is awesome! It's very easy to take the camera on and off the clip while also being very secure when locked. I do give it a little wiggle after securing it in the clip just incase. Definitely don't put this thing to high up on the shoulder strap of your backpack because it will dig into you. What helped this stay put was because I have a chest and waist strap on my backpack so it's not waving everywhere. I have seen reviews saying that the little metal rod that keeps it held closed can break and I can definitely see that happening since it's very thin. So far I've only used it twice so I'll update if it breaks on me within a couple uses. Also the metal plate that screws onto the bottom of the camera can come loose if you don't properly secure it with the little tool, this didn't bother me too much since I just made sure it was hand tight before putting it back on. I was constantly taking it off to shoot anyway.

Eliminate camera swing
The Beetle was an addition to my current camera sling, which connects snuggly to my belt at the hip and prevents my camera from swinging freely

PGYTECH Camera Clip - Worth it(?)
I was skeptical about how much I really needed this device. I had purchased this to take with me to the beach, as I knew I wanted to be hands free at times, and my current camera strap is too in the way for my liking. I use one of those diagonal straps, which is fine a lot of times, but I still find myself holding on to my camera constantly with it.Functionality:I used this on the strap of my camera bag. It's one of those generic cheap amazon camera backpacks that there's 100 copies of, maybe you have one, maybe you don't, which is fine, because this also worked on my other 2 backpacks I had lying around. It worked great on the trails. I wasn't jumping around or anything, and I trusted it as far as I trusted the strap of my bag to stay on. I would use it on my belt, but anything attached to my belt drives me crazy, especially a bulky full frame camera. You micro 4/3's photographers might make out on that one, but I think I would still be annoyed even with my old olympus attached to my belt. That's just me though, maybe you don't mind that kind of thing. The clip closes securely to whatever strap I put it on, the baseplate doesn't come loose from the camera, and the camera fits securely onto the clip. No complaints here. Just be cautious that you don't close it too tightly like I did at first, because it can be a pain to get off again. By the way, use a lens hood when wearing this.Drawbacks:The clip worked great at the beach. I could put my camera away and use both of my hands at will. However, I hate walking around with a backpack as it makes me sweat like crazy in the summer, even after a few minutes. If you have a backpack that breathes nicely, and you're going to be wearing the backpack anyway, then this is for you. I, however, am constantly at odds about how much I will be annoyed with carrying a backpack around, just for the sake of being able to be fully hands free with my camera. That's the biggest compromise with this clip, personally, as I like going on short hikes with the most reduced possible configuration. I also found it to be a little awkward to clip and unclip my camera, but it was just that- a little awkward, and no big deal.Bottom line:If you want to free your hands occasionally, keep your camera secure and out of the way, spend less than the premium brand, and if you already intend to use a backpack- then absolutely, yes, this is for you.

After a year of use, frustrating details emerge
I like the overall quality and build, but after a year or so of using it, I find that it is constricting. That is, if I want to mount my camera on a tripod while this base is on the camera, I have to remove the base piece, then put on a standard base to fit the tripod. It’s a hassle and frustrating at times. Wish they could have designed a base that would fit in a standard tripod without having to remove and replace the piece. I’d rather not have to buy a separate quick release piece for $65. Also, the adjustability for thickness on the ratchet closure could be nice, but it often doesn’t sit properly and I find that it takes 2-3 tries to get it snapped in as I want it. The item just isn’t as universally usable as I’d like it to be.
