Q: Does the product contain harmful substances?

Not as far as I can tell, and I'm pretty up to date on harmful substances.

Q: Can anyone compare this to Salux (the culty Japanese brand of comparable exfoliating back cloth)?

I went to the Cleanlogic cloths when my esthetician retired and I could not find the Salux anywhere. It was a seamless transition. Love it!

Q: How long can this product be used?

We suggest to replace this stretch cloth after either 30 days or 30 uses.

Q: can these be used to polish sterling?

I sure would NOT use them to polish anything! Actually, the stretch cloth is not as gentle as the sponges. It was too course for sensitive areas. Also, as it stretched when wet, it became more like a fat rope, so it did not have any coverage area for cleaning things like your back in the shower. However, I did end up using it to clean the shower!
