Super easy to install and very bright.
My old backyard light was a quartz-halogen, and that was bright, but whenever my girlfriend would forget to turn the backyard light off, all I could think about was how much energy that light was consuming. So when it finally burned out a tube, I decided to replace it with this modern LED lamp instead. It's a much better light and very easy to install.Opening up the box, the light is complete with the light, a gasket, a bracket, screws, and orange-colored wire nuts. Removing the old lamp was as simple as using a screwdriver to take out the old mounting screw, then undoing the old wires by unscrewing the old wire nuts. Then, to install the new lamp, all I had to do was take off the old bracket with a screwdriver, put the new bracket on, put the gasket on (it's self-adhesive; just peel off the paper), and then attach the black wire to the black wire; the white wire to the white wire, and the green wire to the ground on the bracket--using the included wire nuts. One last screw and the light was mounted. Just had to make sure the light sensor was on top when mounting.I flipped the switch but the light didn't come on, because it was too bright out. Once the brightness dropped as the sun set, the light came on and boy, is it really bright. A lot brighter than my old quartz-halogen, with a lot more throw and a lot less energy consumption. The light sensor means that even if I leave the switch on, the light will shut off in the daytime, saving me money. This light is really bright, so it's important to aim the three lamps properly, or you'll light up your neighbor's yard too. I'm pretty sure that the light is bright enough to shine through a skinny person. It actually lights up the far end of my yard at some 60 feet away, which is amazing. The instructions say it should be installed by a trained/approved electrician, but as long as you remember to turn the light switch off before messing with the wires, you should have no problem with installing the lamp. As always, your mileage may vary.

One last trip up the ladder
If you're tired of climbing the ladder to replace those T3 halogen bulbs, this is what you need. I've been putting up LED bulbs and fixtures inside FAR Manor for a while now, and now I'm working on the outside fixtures. I bought three, and already put two of them up. I'll get #3 when that bulb burns out. If you've ever replaced a light fixture, this is familiar territory. Turn off the switch (or breaker), pull off the old fixture, install the new one. Use the ladder to clean out the rain gutters from now on.Seriously, when you consider the overhead — getting the ladder in position, dorking with tissues/paper towels to keep from contaminating the T3 bulb, prying the glass off the old fixture, etc. — replacing the entire fixture doesn't take that much longer. The LED fixtures are brighter than a 150W T3 halogen, and use about 1/7 the power. I measured the distance from the fixture to the garage across the driveway… 67 feet (20-ish meters). You can see how well the light reaches across that distance in the picture. With two heads, a good guess should set the light coverage pretty well.My only gripes with this fixture:1) You have to turn the heads in weird positions if you don't want them pointing more or less in the same direction.2) I don't know how well the plastic housing will hold up to outdoor life. On the other hand, the first two installations are on northern-facing walls, and all the planned installations are under eaves. In other words, they should be fairly well-sheltered. Daughter Dearest estimated they should last 28 years… I hope I'll live that long, anyway.Bottom line: if you forget, and leave these on all day, it's like leaving the old ones on for an hour or two. They light things up better. They'll pay for themselves — if not in electric bills, in saving the hassle of replacing bulbs. Make one last trip up the ladder, and replace your old fixtures with these. You won't regret it.

If you want to piss off the neighbors...
I installed these on my garage. They are super, super bright. I had to adjust the light-heads so they point down, as much as possible, so that I would not piss off the neighbors. Honestly!I have one of these installed on a dethatched 2-car garage. The lights are about 8ft above the driveway. Initially, I aimed the light-heads directly down the driveway. That night, as I checked on my work, I noticed that basically, the entire distance between the houses, was effectively day-light. The light brightly lit the entire pathway between the houses and brightly illuminated the houses across the street. The following day, I adjusted the light-heads to face downward, as much as the assembly would allow. This was much better, but still incredibly bright. I am going to give it a few nights to see how it goes.If you want BRIGHT Security lights for your home or business, these are it!!!
