I love the extremely stiff front and back covers. This allows them to stand up on my desk, when I go to type things in. They also make it an extremely stable surface to write on when I am out taking the notes (handheld). Paper is a little better then I expected. Have been using other brands that cost more and provide less. I was a little surprised by the size (diameter) of the wire binding at the top. Larger than what I am used to. I learned to like it because the pages turn over easier than they do with the smaller wire coils that I am used to.Make sure to use a good permanent marker with writing details on the cover. The glossy surface will prevent some inks from drying and allow for smudges. I like the glossy surface because it repels moisture better.Possible Disadvantages - The front and back cover cardboard is stiffer than most boxes. It isn't a problem for me; I usually carry it in a cargo pants pocket. They could be bulkier than you would like if you put it in your coat pocket. If you are very much into the traditional size and flexibility of the covers this isn't for you. For my needs this is a huge improvement. They will take up more space when I store them but that not an issue for me.

I use these for my business, and it's the perfect notepad. They're perfectly sized to take quick notes, and take up almost no space. I put them next to the cash register for employees to take notes. Great quality paper, and solid cover and binding. The only notepads I buy.

This is by far the best 4" x 8" Reporter's Notebook I've found anywhere! The front and back covers are sturdy, thick cardboard - making it easy to hold the notebook in one hand while writing on it with the other. The paper is standard thickness, with medium density lines, helping freehand notes and diagrams stand out nicely. The spiral binding is high-grade, so it doesn't need to go all the way to the sides. Other notebooks have cheap spiral binding that goes to the edge, making it easy to bend and causing the pages to be torn at the top. This notebook doesn't have that problem. To top it off, there are TWELVE Notebooks in the pack, making it a heck of a deal!

The most notable things about these reporter notebooks are their extremely heavy covers. You would need tin snips and a sturdy grip to make a dent. They might even deflect a stray piece of shrapnel. The binding is sturdier than a standard spiral. There are some inconsistencies in the ease of flipping pages while interviewing (the reviewer is a professional journalist)—sometimes they flip easily, sometimes the pages hang up on themselves. It’s a frequent enough occurrence to warrant pre-flipping the pages before conducting an interview.

Best pad I’ve ever used. The heavy cover makes a much better writing surface when reporting in the field and in the fly.

I liked having the first of these that I ordered many more. Great for recording notes, data, measurements, and figures.

The hard cover is great, and keeps the sheets from bending.

The note pads to me are a little scraps of paper, there are a little longer than I expected. The pads are other fine and are not to be saying there are bad, just a little longer than expected.

Delighted! I love these pads! They are a really handy size with spiral binding at the top. Both front and back covers are made from thick, rigid board which means you can easily write while holding the pad in your hand. And at a great price too!

Sarebbe un ottimo notebook. Peccato che le pagine non si girano senza doverle strappare il che rende il taccuino idoneo solo per scrivere delle note e non appunti. Non è economico e un difetto simile non gli si perdona. Avrei dovuto farmelo rimborsare, per un mio errore non ho fatto in tempo. Sconsigliato.

... But the covers are almost *too* thick and sturdy. It's hard to describe, but the pads are if anything a little awkward. But they will *always* be an incredibly stable writing surface.
