Tombow Blending Kit
If you have the Tombow Markers the blender is a must. It brings blending to another level,Tombow products are all amazing and I am loving them. The blender brush will stain with the ink coloursbut it doesn't affect it's function at all. Just wipe on tissue or paper to make sure the previous colourhas disappeared and continue with your next color blend. The mister is a great way to add water to your markers as it is a light mist so you don't get too much. You do need to use the appropriate watercolor paper as it wrecks normal stock paper even the heavier paper, but with the right paperyou are set for a new level in using markers.

I'm glad I bought this set because it's an easy way for me to take my journaling with me. I already had a blending pen, though, and I thought it had run out of the stuff that makes it blend. Now I'm not so sure that was the case. I really don't know what's in these blending pens and if they ever run out.

Hard to find info on marker blending!
You can find a lot of books on water color PAINT mixing, but water color markers are not so easy to get help with. This little kit has a blender pen, a water mister, a laminated palette card, AND a card that has a bit of info on marker mixing. After using it a bit, I found if you do a lot of marker mixing, use a real palette. My lamination broke down on an edge and bled under the surface of the card.

Necessary? No. Helpful? Yes.
So this is the Tombox blender pen, a little mister bottle, and a laminated card.Do you need this set? No. All of this stuff is fluff. If you have the jumbo Tombow set, it comes with the blender pen. This is an extra. A small mister bottle will work just fine; if you don't have one, well, this might be helpful.A laminated surface? Do you really need to purchase a laminated surface? No.But, if you have the Tombox jumbo set (Tombow Dual Brush Pen Set, Professional Marker Desk Set with Stand, 96 Piece (56149)) that came with that holder that you have had to superglue together to make it stay put, this set offers something very important: the color graph for organizing.Out of the box, those 96 great pens just go all willy nilly . . . . even if you wanted to be methodical in getting them out of the box, it's a Herculean feat. You may not feel the need or want to organize your colors, completely understandable. But there is no rhyme or reason to the way the jumbo set ships (I gave it a five star rating). Useless stand when you get it together, then all the pens are stuffed in a box. If they were in any order before shipping, once you take them out, forget it.The color chart on this little blending kit will show you the company's way of organizing your 96 pens pens, i.e., the way the colors are meant to be organized. I was pretty close in my guessing, but not close enough. In seeing the logic of the colors, you get a better grasp on their use as well. Some colors that I thought were in one family, situated between A and F were actually way over between S and X: in other words, the color relations weren't as transparent as the cap colors, the cap colors not necessarily the measure to understand the ink color.Do you need this? No. Is it helpful? Yes. Worth the few extra dollars, since the 96 pen set doesn't ship with any color chart. It's in this add-on.

Great starter kit for someone beginning water coloring and hand ...
Great starter kit for someone beginning water coloring and hand lettering! I love that it includes a misting bottle as well as a paper type blender area to use to blend colors with the pen. I'd definitely buy this again and will buy it for gifts as well!

worth the purchase
this is so worth the purchase. it comes with the blending color card says to be used with tombow markers but it is compatible with the other color pen families. very portable for on the road trips where you dont need to look for something to use to go with even your watercolor pencils. have had much enjoyment since received.

The blending pen is great and works as it should
The blending pen is great and works as it should; so does the mister. I love the small size! The blending palette, however, hardly lasted a week before it started soaking up the water and falling apart. It's essentially coated paper. This kit might be nice to get if you're getting a smaller 10 piece set. If you're buying the entire collection of 96 colors, you already get a blending pen, so this kit is mostly unwarranted. You could find a small spray bottle in the travel section. There are also several things you could use to replace the blending palette- a credit card or anything similar to that material works, or if you need a bigger palette for backgrounds, you could use either a laminated sheet of paper, or buy a cheap flat paint palette. I found a set of 2 large ones at Hobby Lobby for 2.99 (actually less, because they always have a coupon!) and it works perfectly. This kit isn't a bad kit- especially for the price (which is currently cheaper than the $7.99 I paid)- but if you're having to replace the main part of this kit so quickly, I'd suggest just spending money to get something that's going to last.
