Well made, but holes not where needed.
This is a well made and sturdy device. However, the ladies size medium does not have holes where I need them for a rub spot on my big toe. Compare the holes on my picture to those on the advertised pic. There are not holes near the top for stretching where my big toe is in the shoe. I installed the stainless steel bump in the hole closest to the end of the stretcher (the stretcher was right in the tip of the shoe in the picture). The yellow dot on the shoe shows where my big toe hits inside it, while the red dot shows where the stretching bump hits when inserted in the very end hole. it is NOT on the TOP of the shoe, where needed, but more on the side. I conclude that if you have a bump, such as a bunyon, on the side of your foot, you would be able to stretch your shoe to allow for it. If your big toe is too close to the top of a box that is not tall enough, this device would not help.

works, some issues with size 8 wide width shoe
bought the one way stretcher to widen two new pairs of running shoes (open weave material/leather mix, ascics/new balance) that i couldnt return. It worked. I used this on one shoe per night, premoistened interior with a cotton makeup pad wetted with water then doused in alcohol. Both pairs of shoes widened easily no slippage (I read some reviews that said the device would slip back into the heel of the shoe). I had to use the attachments to get the extra width I needed elsewise it wouldnt have worked as the native width of the stretcher isnt wide enough for a size 8 wide width shoes. It does say on the description not for use on wide width tho.You have to be super careful not to overturn the device as it will strip the bolt. I would advise to use the grip test around the area being stretched to feel for a tautness of the shoe material, not the screw part of the stretcher which seemed to be very delicate and would spin with no resistance to the point i wasnt sure if it was working. whatever, it worked and saved me a few hundreds of dollars for shoes that couldnt be worn elsewise. I would recommend going up to a large womens or a small mens stretcher as others said if you have a wide shoe.

Work great
Due to my foot surgery, I needed something to widen my shoe from the left side and didn't want to purchase shoes In a wide size that would have been too big for my feet, so I bought the foot fitter work perfectly and just put it in your shoe put it to your widened. Very easy to use. I love the craftsmanship and the sturdiness. Great buy

Great Start — Bad End
The good: The Footfitter fit my shoe as it should. The stainless steel expanders hit my shoe very near where my trouble spots are for bunions and hammer toes. It was doing a great job of stretching my shoe. I put it in every night because that kept my shoe feeling good. I was extremely pleased! The bad: It was always quite difficult to turn the “corkscrew” to expand it, but it was a small price to pay for great function! Then, four days after the return window closed it completely quit working. I couldn’t turn it at all. Put 3 in 1 oil on the inner mechanism, thinking it was just bound up somehow. But it didn’t fix it. It just goes around and around without opening it up.I’m so disappointed — in huge part because I have another Footfitter shoe expander like it that I bought many years ago. That one still works great! I’m hoping this was a lemon. I’m going to order another one because I really need it.

Decent stretcher...at a premium price
After owning one of these for a year, I purchased a second so that I could stretch two shoes at once. They work relatively well and are easy to use, but are more expensive than I would anticipate this product being.I will say that their customer service is very good. When my second stretcher came without the metal stretching plugs, the company immediately FEDEXed me the missing pieces. The fact that they are wood also gives you the option of drilling an additional hole for one of the stretching plugs, if you need to place one is a particularly specific location.

Quality product.
I have purchased two. I stripped the threads on the first by applying too much force. The mechanical parts are stainless steel and will gall if used incorrectly (I work with metal and knew better). Keep a little oil on the threads and don't apply extreme force. I cranked it down really, really hard too many times. I would not be buying another if I didn't have confidence in this product.

Relief from Foot Pain
I have feet that are EEE across the toes and AA at the heels. So I can either get shoes that are wide enough at the toe box, that I then walk out of at the heels or get shoes that fit the heels or are too tight in the toe box, particularly for my right foot which is slightly larger than the left. And on top of that, due to years of too tight shoes, I developed a bunion on the right foot. I have two pairs of shoes that were not cheap, that I can't wear without pain on the bunion and a squashed little toe. So I decided to stretch them. There are shoe stretchers that are far less expensive, but rather than waste money on them after seeing negative or less than stellar reviews of those, I took one reviewer's advice and simply bought this one rather than try to deal with less well made stretchers. I can say that this one is very well made, very sturdy, and comes with three plugs and numerous well placed holes in which to put plugs to stretch at problem sites like a bunion or squashed little toe. I wear an 8.5 US shoe, Medium (with caveats as set forth above for the right foot). I was uncertain whether to get this one, Women's Medium Size 7 to 8.5, or the next size up, but the Women's Medium Size 7 to 8.5 fit the shoes just fine. The first thing the directions say is: "Apply shoe stretch spray to the inside of your shoe to relax the material for stretching." I looked at several products before selecting this one based on the reviews. Professional Boot & Shoe Leather Stretch - Stretch Tight Fitting Leather, & Suede Shoes or Boots - 4 oz I have successfully stretched the right shoe in both pairs, and in one pair, the left, too, although I could probably have broken that one in with wearing, but why suffer through that? Both pairs are now wearable without pain.

Does exactly what it says on the tin!!
Bought to widen F (narrow) fit shoes to nearer to G (wide). Works perfectly, am very pleased with results. Was sceptical when I placed my order, not any more though - does exactly what it says on the tin!!

Well constructed and works great!
This FootFitter Premium Professional stretcher is just what I needed to make my soccer shoes fit better. It's pretty much impossible to find a really wide-fitting soccer shoe. Believe me, I've spent many hours searching the internet. I need shoes with a wide toe box, partly because I have naturally wide feet, but also because of a bunion on my left foot. The soccer shoes I got are soft kangaroo leather and so they will stretch from wearing . . . eventually. But in the meantime, they fit way too snug for my comfort.I read mostly favourable, but some mixed, reviews on this particular brand of stretcher and finally decided it was the best option out there. I'm not disappointed. Apart from the plastic handle, it is all wood and metal construction (including the plugs) and it all feels very solid. There are lots of options for placement of the plugs and I'm sure if you needed to, you could drill another hole.At first, I used it dry and it did the job. But I received the stretch spray yesterday and it definitely helps the leather stretch faster. I think the key is to stretch the shoes gradually. As the instructions state, turn the handle until it just becomes snug, then turn another three or four times (technically, half turns – 180 degrees). After a few hours, I gave it another turn and same again in a few hours until I got the desired stretch.I had to push it in pretty hard to get it close to the end of the toe. But I didn’t find that it slipped back out by itself after I got it in there. It stayed put pretty well, with my shoes, anyway. And you could push it in just partway if you wanted to line up one of the plugs on a particular spot.I probably would have got the model that also stretches shoes lengthwise, if it was less expensive. I already paid extra for the premium product - $48.95CAD and got free shipping. The two-way model is currently $80.95CAD.

Buy this if you have dogs that are barking from poorly fitted shoes
After doing a lot of research (I mean a lot), I came to the conclusion that this was the best brand on the market. I am very happy with this purchase. The device is really well made, and it is incredible how well it works. I have incredibly ugly feet. They look like they've been run over by a bus so its always difficult to find shoes that fit. Normally I've just lived through the pain of wearing poorly fitted shoes. With this tool in hand, I've been able to stretch and manipulate a couple of pairs of shoes so that they no longer hurt. I can't believe I waited until I'm in my '50s before buying one of these miracle tools.

Very solid and effective
It is very well made and I used it to make tight shoes more comfortable, better adapted to the shape of my feet. I found it was best to leave it on longer, more like 24 hours instead of the 6 to 8 hours that was suggested. And the stretching can be repeated, a day or so later, if necessary. Great investment.

Shoe Stretcher - Wooden
This product is great because they give you pieces to attach to holes in it so that the stretching allows for bunions or corns - very grateful as we hike all the time and the quality shoes we buy aren't as soft as they used to be for material.
